TQI Accredited Professional Learning Programs

The continuing professional learning of ACT teachers is now being recognised through the TQI accreditation of professional learning programs and the inclusion of professional learning as a requirement for teachers to maintain professional registration. Below is the list of programs that are currently Accredited. What you need to know to maintain your registration

You must submit and reflect on a total of 20 hours of PL in your PL profile per year for registration purposes. The activities must meet the criteria of being professionally relevant, intellectually rigorous and related directly to the content or practice of teaching.This must include:

at least 5 hours of TQI Accredited PL.
at least 5 hours of Teacher Identified PL (TIPL).
you can make up the remaining 10 hours from either category (Accredited or TIPL).

Professional reflections can be updated at any time and are only accessible by you unless you print and share them.

TQI Accredited programs appear in your PL Profile once your attendance has been verified by the program provider.
Providers of programs are reliant on your feedback for future iterations of the program. They require a minimum of 75% of evaluations completed for each program.
Verification of PL is undertaken by approved verification delegates through an annual PL conversation before the end of the school year.
You must complete an evaluation on each program.
The Register of TQI Accredited programs can be found on the TQI website and Portal.

Your voice matters!

If you are a casual teacher,You need to select a school to verify your PL records. Your nominated school will then have access to the title of your activities, the hours and the professional standards you have selected for each record. The verification delegate will use the TQI portal to confirm that the professional learning meets the criteria and that a conversation has taken place. Your school preference can be set or changed on the portal at any time. Registered teachers who are not employed by an ACT school or system and do not hold approval to work as a casual teacher will have their PL verified by TQI. TQI will conduct random quality assurance audits of professional learning records and professional reflections submitted for registration purposes. TQI will contact teachers who have submitted TIPL records that do not meet the criteria for registration purposes.

All Teachers must keep their employment and contact information in the TQI Teacher Portal up to date.

You have accessed one of the Professional Learning pages - an important area for registered teachers to maintain their registration.

As a Pre-service Teacher there is no requirement for you to undertake Professional Learning courses.

Registered Teachers are required to submit and reflect on 20 hours of Professional Learning per registration year in order to maintain their registration. If you have undertaken Accredited Professional Learning as a Pre-service Teacher in the same registration year you progress to either a Permit To Teach (PTT) or a Provisionally registered teacher, these hours will count towards your next registration renewal.

Once you have been registered as either a Provisional teacher or a PTT, you will be made aware of your responsibilities in regards to Professional Learning
